Lime....heard from a buddy today that on his farm pond, which was covered with scum..no filaments...that a truck load of sheetrock scraps cleared up the problem. Ever heard of that ??

Sheetrock (gypsum) will definitely clear up water that has a suspended clay problem. It may temporarily clear up "scum", (which is most likely some type plankton bloom, but it will return as long as the water is fertile.

You want to watch the Chinese sheetrock. True or false, there are reports that it may have toxic additives.
