can anyone tell me if CNBG will be Ok in my southern indiana pond? If not why. And if maybe yes, what are my chances or percentages of survivability. Thanks

A little cranky this morning Greg? Airbourne's only been around a short while so perhaps he hadn't seen your prior post about CNBG.

Thanks anyway SGT Ron Lohrum US Army Camp Taji, Iraq

Hold on there Airborne. Your on the right site. No ill will was intended. You just touched a topic that has been broached many, many times. Take a breath, calm down and hang out. Your in a tense situation and that can lead to easily ruffled feathers. You won't find a more supportive site of the military, with many, many vets. You may get your chops busted sometimes but it is all in a good natured, teasing sort of way. Having been in the military I am pretty sure you have been subjected to that before. Stick around and go with the local bluegill.
By the way, thanks for serving!

Ditto, Airborne. Simple or complex questions are no problemo to ask.
Complex may take longer to answer, though.

SGT Ron Lohrum, Thank you for your service. We all appreciate it. I'm not speaking for Greg Grimes but everybody has a bad day sometimes.
This is a great website. Don't let one guy (who didn't know you are new I hope) push you away from PB. As long as you've been in the US Army, I'm sure you have had worse answers than that. And besides, "there are more of us than there are of them". (Line from a old rock song).
Anyway thanks again and rock Iraq.
Also David Letterman just said that he knocked off another guy (Leno) who came up against his time slot.
Good luck and stay safe!!!

SGT Ron, Don't go away.
Greg Grimes is a fantastic guy. If you met him in person you'd like him. Last year when my father died he reached out to me just days after his own father had died. He's good people. He had an off day, that's all. That's why I posted the comment with the smiley face. I know Greg did not mean anything by his comment.
This site is fully of wonderful people and fantastic information. We become a family of sorts. Stay and become part of the pond boss family, you won't regret it.
And thank you for your service to our country. We appreciate it every single day.

Tell us about your pond SGT Ron.
How big is it?
What fish are in it already?
What are your goals for the pond, what do you like to fish for?

Howdy, Airborne, good to have you, when you can be here.
I have both CNBG and "regular" BG in Nashville. We had a cold winter this last year; I don't think I lost any CNBG, but folks just a little north of us in KY definitely did. I'm not seeing any huge difference in growth rates between the two, possibly because this lattitude is getting pretty marginal for CNBG.
If I had to guess, I'd certainly think that CNBG wouldn't do well as far north as you are.

Welcome Airborne to PB. Hang in there and keep safe. My brother is in Afghanistan right now. Not easy for him to get to the web very often either.
CNBG are a southern sub-species of BG. They will do ok up to about the I-40 (Okla City , Little Rock , Nashville) line. The further north above that line you go the less well they do. For example if they survived in ID which is questionable they would not grow to their genetic potential. You would be much better off with regular BG.

Airborne I would have to say that the second post on your thread is very untypical of most of the responses that are given here.

Kind of wierd greg would do that. He didnt even have to reply seeing the question wasnt aimed at him? Maybe it was his alter ego. but the rest of the guys are right, there is no other site with the wealth of information this one has.

Ask away ! There are no bad fish/pond questions here - only people who want to learn.

It's pretty simple, if you're tired of answering a common question then simply don't answer it. Or point the asker in the right direction... Don't be afraid to ask, you never learn anything being mute.

Let he (or she) who has never had a bad day or said something they would have liked to take back later make the next complaint
AFTER providing proof you meet the above criteria.

Im a newbee too Im a little scared to ask ??? now where do I go now ??? "Go Ahead, Make Our Day" In all seriousness, you're not likely to find a better group anywhere, on the 'net or in person, or a generally more tolerant one either.....so please ask.

Probably Greg is busy in the field and (hopefully) not read the threador he would have surely apologized. Heck, even I have a bad day, if not, I always make dumb posts then re read and say "What was I thinking?" When I go to modify, a mod has already done the dirty deed. Even with my non political, political posts. Ala a certain fish stuffer.
