DIED that is the coloration I was talking about. Nearly pure black with the orange and white fins... I know of a pond that has tons of them just like that. Pretty fish!

I used to have a bunch, maybe not tons, of them. Over time they disappeared until I only had a couple of large ones. If I saw them when I was fishing, I pulled the bait away and threw it somewhere else. Sadly, I haven't seen them in the last 2 years.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I'm looking at the cover of that book right now... My old edition is rather worn!  My newer edition is not quite so worn. Sorry JHAP and DIED, the GSF doesn't get ALL the glory on the new edition's cover.  And another favorite identification book of mine...

Sorry JHAP and DIED, the GSF doesn't get ALL the glory on the new edition's cover. Hmmmm, I guess I'm going to have to contact the authors and "teach" them the error of their ways.

No sweat Jeff, probably just an oversight. I'm sure they have noticed the glaring error and will change it back next year before heads start rolling.

.............. cj, gsf are very magnanimous. they can share if they have to, its what separates them from all the lower species. What we have here is a failure to communicate. one of my all time favorites burger........poor luke.

had the book for a while jhap, paid a few bucks for it at a used book store in jackson about 15 yrs ago. apparently these regal fish are somewhat underappreciated by jackson pondmeisters as well. How many eggs did Luke eat? I don't remember. i think it was 50

Oops,I thought I was in disquise mode. Disguises don't work Tom. We have face recognition software so I'd know who you were anyway. The only costume that our software won't decipher is a full body bunny suit. NOTE: Shhhhh, don't tell Tom, that's not really true. I'm just trying to see if I can get Tom running around his property in a bunny suit. Muhaaa, Muhaaaaaa, Muhaaaaaaaa.
