need to find out what and when varmints are digging. Need a few suggestions of cameras that wont break the bank. Never shopped for a game camera before. Just need date/time stamp. Nothing fancy; sure that will come in time though. Also may be looking for possible 2 legged critters til I get my fence up. Absentee(for the most part) owner.

I've tried 4 different brands. Cuddebak is expensive but they work. Can't say the same about the others I've tried.

I know this won't directly answer your question, but spend some time here doing some reading. Trail Cam Reviews

Some things to look for:
Trigger speed
Time to wake-up
Ease of securing to tree (lock)
Infrared or Flash?

If you are just looking for something basic, I like the Moultrie Band, model Game Spy 4.0. I have 5 and use them almost year round. Most are from 1 to 2 years old and I have never had an issue. They are about $100. Nothing fancy, but will get the job you're looking to do done... I also have a couple Moultrie Brand, model 5.0 Outfitter. They run about $230, but the batteries last forever and take superb pics day and night and it is infrared so the animals never know its there... Never had issues with it either!

Is that the 5.0 Outfitter like I have, the pics look the exact same... Great looking hogs, I like some of the crazy pics! Lots of guys here in the east are biting at the bit for them to spread more in PA, but others are a bit hesitant they will make a mess of the place, which I know they do.

Yep...it is the 5.0, CJ. I really like the way the camera performs, and the battery life has been very impressive so far.

Delay those varmints as long as you can. Yes, it is neat to have hogs around, and I do enjoy hunting them. But they are varmints of the highest order. Enough of them rooting around will destroy crops and ponds. They ruin fences and stink up the place, too. Finally, they breed fast enough to make a rabbit blush, and once you have them, there's no stopping them. Their endearing quality is that the little ones taste REALLY good.

Yeah, they are just making their face known in our neck of woods in PA. They are far from common yet, but they may stay that way. The number of hunters in our part of PA is rather impressive. So they have been hammering the the pigs.

Went to Academy today. They had the 4.0 Moultrie with flash lighting only for 89. I saw this remington ghost for 99, so I got it. It has flash and/or IR lighting. That way I can scare em with the flash, or be stealthy. It has a smaller capacity card, 256mb, vs. 1 G for the Moultrie. But, I am not one to let the pics just keep building up on it. I probly screwed up, but I figure they have similar electronics in most of the similar price. Will report results. Anybody got the 5.0 M pix Remington?
I just saw that it is a BA products device.

The Remington is built by a secondary company that builds the camera and then has other companies sell it. I have the Wildgame Innovations knock off, same camera just under the "Wildgame Innovations" name. I only have one because I didn't like the quality. The battery life is short, the set up is a pain, it struggles to switch between day mode color pictures and night mode infrared black and white pictures, the attachment system is a pain IMO and the picture quality is so so... Lots of wash out to the pictures IMO. It'll probably accomplish what you're trying to do though. Here are a couple pics:

they're made in China, just like everything else. As I said, it is, I assume, designed by BA Products(read Aquapro, remington, Texas Hunter, Wildgame Innovations) and manufacturing outsourced.

I may keep it for the IR for $99. I guess I cant expect much. It says USB 1.1. Is the download read slow?

Yeah, try finding a game camera that isn't made in China! Rediculous... I'm thinking about making my own. I have a friend who makes his own and he is pretty good at it. So he is gonna teach me.

I use the SD card option, so I don't knwo how the USB download speed is...
