Hey all, S. Oregon didn't get their rains this year, so my seasonal 20' deep at the deepest, 2 acre pond (picture the over-all shape and the bottom of an Olympic pool, (14' deep when full at the shallow end) is now at a 6' over-all seasonal draw-down, and will be at least 12' ~ 15' down on top of that by next Aug/Sept, leaving the shallow end at 2' and the deep end at 8', The pond's meassurements will by then be L+W approx 225' X 75'. It is full of several generations of very healthy LMB and plumb full of 8 yrs of healthy, sex-happy BG. I am concerned about the eventual consentration of all those fish that are now in 14' of water soon being in approx 8' and less. (at deepest). Should I aerate and simply ride it out and hope that by next winter I don't have a toxic fish-droppings-filled muck hole, or just watch for dead and dying indicating a problem? We are on the road most the time in our bizz, so I don't even have the time to deplete it by heavy fishing. I know that even if I do nothing, it is survivalble for the most part, but I would like to cut short the damage as much as possible. Thanks

sorry to hear this dcamp. sounds just like the problems i had last summer, and will probably have again late this summer.
fortunately i do have a nearby pond i can move fish to, and jhap can always take fish from me.
a 3-inch rain storm came through just before i suffered (what i believe would have been) my first major fish kill. the water turned pea green and the fish became very lethargic. i kept night time aeration going and am probably glad i did. it was too hot during the days to aerate all day, and figured the weeds and plankton would provide sufficient oxygen during the day.
GSF are people too!

Sorry for the lag in responding. My bride and I are up in Prudhoe Bay AK right now, 250 miles above the Arctic Circle and the -58* wnd-chill is numbing my brain BIg time. Sounds like I'll just try and aerate and "weather" it out. I don't have an extra pond so moving them is outta da question.... thanks!
