This afternoon I was out fishing with my lovely bride in the pond. I was bass fishing, trying to catch enough small cull bass for dinner. I was able to do so plus a big bonus bass. I didn't have my camera with me, but I did have my cell phone. I took several pictures with my cell phone, BUT...
I can't upload pictures to the internet with my phone. My only option is to send it to someone in the form of a text message and have them put it on the internet.
Would anyone here be interested in helping me?

Thanks Chris and ewest. Any guesses on a weight? I'm going to buy a digital scale this week.

How long was it, Eric? The big bass experts can probably estimate RW fairly well from the picture.

I don't know Theo. Didn't have crap to measure him with. I'm going to buy a digital scale and then a measuring board this week.

Try what I do when I catch one unprepared - measure it from the tip of your middle finger down to however far it reaches on your arm. You can probably remember where that was on you arm within an inch or so when you finally get to a ruler.

I figure she was around 18 inches or so, maybe a few more. I figured she weighed 5 lbs for sure. I don't know if she was full of eggs or just fat.

Note: I caught the fish on my light action rod and spinning reel with 6 lb cajun red mono. It was a battle.

Nice fish, Eric! Gotta love shorts weather in February! It's been humid and downright warm here. No rain, though.

I'd say pushing 6 lbs... Looks like a female full of eggs to me.

I do the same as Theo, and luckily from the tip of my middle finger to the crease of my elbow is 18in, so I automatically know if it is at least 18in.
But anyway you put it thats a nice fish.
Get out and fish.

Great LMB Eric.
Greg Grimes mentioned in another thread recently that he has put together a package of useful stuff related to weighing and measuring fish, you might shoot him an email or PM to ask him about it.

Nice fish.
If I don't have a board or tape to measure with, I usually measure against my fishing pole and then measure that later. But the arm trick sounds good too.

You should sign up for Bruce's "How to Make Any Fish Look Enormous in Pictures" class, though.
But really nice fish!

Yes condello method of holdign and photgraphing fish adds at least 150% to weight. If 18 inches the bass is about 4 lbs.
Jeff the pond kit with very accurate scale, measuring board, thermometer, clipboard with calculator attached, secchi disk and several data sheets to track pond mgmt success. $150 We think it is a great price and what pond owners need. Deluxe version has tag gun, tags and alkalinity kit.
