I use a 4 inch (+ or -) single strand stainless leader on my Brovarney Swim Jigs. These jigs are hand made and expensive. Losing one hurts the pocket book as well as being an extreme irritation. The leaders are wound from .011 or .012 stainless single strand. A small swivel is used on the line tie off end. I used to wire them by hand (a real PAIN!). Last year I bought a wire forming tool from Netcraft and then modified it for this purpose. Since I started using the short leader it is an extreme rarity to lose a jig due to a toothy fish bite-off. I have seen absolutely no degradation on the numbers or size of LMB that go for the jig rigged this way. Weeds are no more problematic with the leader than without.

AH HA. A flaw in Dwight's work! There are 21 wraps at the jig end and only 13 wraps in the swivel end. Of course he probably did that on purpose so the rest of us wouldn't feel so bad.

Jeff, The number of wraps is based on the same formula as the actual length of the leader. (+ or -).

Notice the glaring spacing defect in the shorter wound end at 3 and 8 turns down as well!! Impressive Macro photography!

JHAP, Did you use the Thread Killer Death Star on this thread to? I may have to post the results of my study on the Haywire Twist versus the Dwight Twist to bring this thread back to life. It is really nerdy stuff!!!!

It is a step forward over conventional thinking on the haywire twist. Brother even though I taught you the basic concept of the haywire twist, I freely admit that you are the governor when it comes to improving the design and strength.
Good morning Dave, I've checked the ships systems, and everything appears to be running normally.
