The Judge hometowned us BIG TIME!!!!!
He left us totally land locked and unable to reach our property.
The Judge retired on 12/31 so he gave his buddy the defense attorney a gift in the way of fees for the appeal. It could be two years or more before I can legally set foot on our land again.

Jeeze don't you just love the American way? Money is required to prevail and the lawyers make out like bandits sometimes. And if you've got enough money you can get away with murder by buying the best defense money can by. Ask O.J. I dated a Harvard Law grad whose father was also a lawyer. He said don't even thing of going up against big corporations even if you are obviously in the right. He said they will stall you and run you out of money to pay your lawyer(s). In retrospect I also found out her dad was a crook as he paid off a judge to drop charges against DUI client. I was sitting in a restaurant and listened to the DUI client brag about it. Said his lawyer told him all he had to do was come up with some cash and he would get it taken care of. Don't get me wrong. Some lawyers are good and honest.

To quote a great lawyer. "to be a lawyer you have to deal with some of the most dishonest, corrupt, money hungry people in the world and those are just the Judges."
Nothing against lawyers or judges. They just have a position of power and can easily take advantage of it if they choose to. They can also use that power to help people and uphold the laws.

I'm building a new dental office right now and am in the process of dissolving a partnership. Without my lawyer I'd be lost, and probably extremely vulnerable.
It does bother me however that I've memorized his phone number. I hope I can get back to NOT remembering it here in a few months.

Ive got a nice, clean, shiny,if somewhat used .357 you can borrow.......... As much as I hate to admit it---that thought has been considered. My wife abhors guns, but has demanded the first time we set foot on our land again, that I teach her how to shoot the 30.06 and shotguns in case she happens to see the neighbor on our property. Of course this is assuming we will have any property left when we return----Our 37' travel trailer was just totaled by the Ins. Co. for water damages that could not be repaired because of the easement issue. (he would threaten anyone attempting to enter our place). Like most of us, I have had a LOT of "bad" things happen to me before, but this is by far the most disheartening!

Trust me, it's a lot more than I charge him. I have no doubt about that. I once saw a fee for $900.00 per hour! Holy Shemoly!

The lawyer we have is not cheap but has been so disgusted with the Idiotic rulings the judge has handed down that he has written off almost 75% of his fees. Also as a result of the trial being such a joke, he has made it his personal mission to destroy the opposing council and to have the judges decision overturned for about 10% of the normal appeals costs, which are often over 100K. The judge even accepted altered County road maps as evidence and refused the originals that proved the defendant altered the maps. It's hard to win when the judge prefers falsified evidence!
Any way it goes, the costs are now more than we paid for the 60 acre parcel!

Hey Rainman, don't feel too bad, just heard on the news that the washington DC judge who was sueing for 54 million his dry cleaners for losing his pants is filing an appeal. they did find his pants and he lost the case, but he's trying again. Our tax dollars at work!
