Umm... this is the one Bruce bid on for a fund raiser for the Jesse West Endowment fund at the first Pond Boss convention. I'm embarrassed to say it's finally shipping out tomorrow to Nebraska! Bruce was just too nice about not being in a hurry, and a lot of other squeaky wheels got greased first. I'm so behind I'm turning down work. Here it is before I put it in a shadow box in the morning before shipping. If I remember right it's 15 1/2" in length. I painted it like a male bluegill in full spawning colors. In the future the fish I do for the auction will be finished a head of time! I've got a monster redear (shellcraker) I want to get done after Christmas and get some bids on the website for it for the Jesse West Endowment. Next species for the next Pond Boss Convention will be a Green Sunfish.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Here was Bruce with the unfinished replica at PBCon 2008, unable to keep his hands tongue off of it.

Holding a redear sunfish is like running with scissors.

Good thing it will be in a shadow box although the finish is an automotive clear coat. Bruce reminds me of a kid I knew in grade school one day at show and tell. I brought in this cool reddish rock my dad found while on military maneuvers. I didn't know what kind of rock it was until I saw some kid licking it. "It tastes like salt," he said! So we figured out it was salt with some iron in it to give it the red color.

No worries Rainman the greenie will be in a shadow box like this one and won't be able to get out. It will not be able to do any dirty deeds! Here's the gill just before shipping in the shadow box minus the glass to show scale with a dollar bill. The box was custom made by an Amish craftsman just as the one with the Shellcracker (Redear) and the Green Sunfish will be. It can hang on the wall or be free standing such as a shelf.

Cecil make the RES look like this only bigger by about 4 inches and you will have one bidder for sure.
