Need help in identification of this fish. Looks a lot like a pumpkinseed but doesnt have the red crescent on the flap. Have caught them from 4" to 11", very aggressive on both live baits and spinners and even rapalas and fight like crazy. They are much thicker in cross section than normal gills and have a wide mouth similar to LMB. They seem to like the shoreline, but I have also caught them in up to 8' of water.
Thanks.......Mark

Definately hybrid bluegills. The green sunfish parentage gives them the feature of the larger mouth compared to pure strain bluegills.

Looks like a HBG. A pretty nice one. Someone else will have to tell you it's lineage. I cant tell what the parents were but If I had to guess I would say GSF and Standard BG. I can't even venture a guess as to which one was the mom and which was the dad. Anyone else know?
