Whenever it comes out that I raise large fish in my ponds or in this case want to know where a good place to collect pumpkinseeds broodfish would be in my area of my state, the ugly jealous side of some anglers comes out. If you want some entertainment keep watching the following thread. I guarantee you I will get cut down even more for even asking the question. http://www.myfishfinder.com/fishing_forum/index.php?topic=23967.msg253556;topicseen#new
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

You need to go underground, Cecil. And you just want to know where you can catch some Pumpkinseeds.

Theoretically, I would think, that as a resident of Indiana, any fish you took from a public water in Indiana was paid for by you anyways, and you can do whatever you want with it.

Like Mike Tyson always said "Everybody gots a plan until ya punch 'em in da mouth." Thank him for sharing his opinion, explain to him how similar opinions are to ummm, "back doors", and then tell him to keep his "back door" opinion to himself, unless he know where you can catch some Punkinseeds for brood stock, of course, then ask him if he is ok with you bringing the bait...that would surely get a rise out of him.

In Dog Beers, I've had one.

I'm amazed how many people know about my "unofficial state record perch" and it's even more amazing I haven't had any trespassers. Hey guys this really isn't a big deal but I think it's sad when people have to act this way. Anyone ever notice when there is a new record fish or deer there are a certain amount of people that say it was poached or came from somewhere else. It's like they can't believe it could have come from their area or someone was skillful enough to kill or land it.

Who cares what "sits well" with this dude? I do know the law (researched it to death and have it in writing from state law enforcement) and you are right to a certain extent. I could not resale the fish I catch, but it's perfectly permissible to use them as broodfish as long as I stay within the limits and have a fishing license. Actually there is no limit on pumpkinseeds in my state as there is none on bluegills.

You mean like an alias or a pseudonym, Theo?
Why would anyone want to do that?

On another note I occasionally vacation in Massachusetts since I lived there as a kid. Pumpkinseeds are very common there --more so than Indiana so I'm thinking of bringing some back on my next vacation. I contacted a local biologist there about best places to find them and if it was legal to catch some and bring them back.
As far as I know only the Great Lakes states have VHS testing requirements for importation of pumpkinseeds from other Great Lakes states, but I guess I'll find out. I could get the cold shoulder from this biologist even if it is legal as it wouldn't be the first time. I guess I'll have to wait and see what my email brings.

Very Interesting Cecil - I'll follow the thread with knowledge of your stance - how fun is that!
Pumpkineeds............. they are pretty but seem to me like loafs compared to BG in the ponds I fish. I made extra care to make sure they weren't in the stocking of the pond I'm working on. For whatever reason - I get lots of grubs in the PKS that I catch -though ocaisionally I'll get a big 10" on fishing the outer weed edges of the local lake, FH

Same here. I didn't realize that they could grow that big. I've still never caught one that I can remember.

I wonder how many people realize that a BG can grow to over 5 lbs.
