Tomorrow! Uncle Ted: Many people don’t know that outdoorsmen provide roughly 75% of all funds for state departments of natural resources for overall environmental management. Quality air, soil and water come from healthy wildlife habitat, and that has always been our mission statement. Kill 'Em & Grill 'Em : http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=28679

Just think about it. 30 billion per year revenues thru hunting and fishing. If we just double up on those activities, we will pay for the bailout in about 20 yrs.

Today is also National Public Lands Day. About 8 of us from the Fisheries and Wildliefe Society went out and helped pick up trash on the Lake. We got this channel marker that had floated to the bank. It was about 300 lbs and 8 feet long. I wanted to put it in my pond but the wouldn't let me take it. I ended up getting a mailbox, two five gallon buckets, a feed tub, and a plastic 55 gallon drum cut in half lengthwise that will go in the pond.

Great stuff Chris. It never ceases to amaze me the stuff people will discard. Some folks treat public land (and private land for that matter) as their own personal dumping ground. I am still finding beer cans, bottles, etc on our property from when it was open to folks. I have also found two complete rod and reel set ups in the mud as the pond has shrunk this year.

After I took a SCUBA course a few years ago and we did our first dive I was absolutely flabbergasted at all the garbage on the bottom of the lake we dived. Sometimes I wonder if some human beings really deserve the gift that God has given them. Some truly are absolute pigs.
We found an intact pop bottle complete with the original labeling as pristine as it was back in the 50's.
Placing items for structure is one thing but dumping is another.
One of my ponds is close to the highway and all kinds of things blow in. One day I watched a brand new big SUV slow down in from of the house on the highway and the woman passenger commenced to clean out the vehicle by throwing things out of the window including emptying the ashtray. I was really disgusted! If I could have gotten down there in time I would have given them a piece of my mind.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.
