Of course we care, what would we have to talk about besides launching "4 legged fish food?" Next thing we will be discussing what are the best baits for attracting mice inthe first place, it's one of them vicious cycles I reckon...

I have A foggy design for a mouse-powered mouse launcher forming in my mind. Powering the launcher by mouse allows each mouse to contribute in two ways. The first contribution is running inside the mouse wheel cranking up the tension on the rubber launch band. The second is as a mouse landing in the water to feed the LMB.

In summary then; the mouse runs inside the mouse wheel powering the system. When the mouse is tired, he steps out of the mouse wheel on to the conveyor belt that carries the mouse to the launch Pad. When the mouses full weight is on the launch pad, the launcher trips and fires the mouse into the pond.

I gotta run to town and get some aluminum welding wire......

When I have made some note worthy progress I will start a new thread titled,"Mouse Launcher TS"

Note: Its the beginning of MN hunting season so progress will be slow. But in MN there is very little to do during the winter as far wildlife management is concerned.

mnfish, I feel that this project will sell better with an "ST" billing vs. a "TS" billing. If you go with "TS," some will immediately think you're talking about Threadfin Shad.

"...allows each mouse to contribute in two ways." Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

Also, TS is something we say when someone in the group misses a 3" putt, or his favorite football team loses by 40 etc, etc \:\(

- Mouse Launcher ST will be the project name.
- Just got back from a dove hunt with another engineer friend of mine. We talked the Mouse Launcher ST for the better part of the night. Two grown men in the weeds with loaded shotguns talking about different ways to propel a little mammal. Although the task may seem trivial for bettering humanity,it was really refreshing to invent for fun and not worry about market potential, poduct positioning, margins and such. A simple challange of tossing a mouse into the air 25' unharmed and landing into a body of water.

The irony is the goal of landing the mouse on the water in perfect health knowing the foregone conclusion of brutality.

Not true! The mouse has a chance to swim to safety. They do it all the time in my pond.

So is that to say that if the mouse makes it to shore, he get's his freedom badge?

I believe the mouse has to have a chance to swim back in good health. I think the last thing a pond owner would want is a bunch of dead uneaten mice floating on the water surface

I wonder if it would be possible to spin the mouse around enough to make it dizzy before launch, then it would swim in circles increasing the chances of utilization??

A very gentle catapult seems to be the easiest way to launch the mouse without physical harm. Variances in the body mass will affect distance obviously, but a mean body mass could be used to reach the mid point of the body of water, allowing lighter specimens to travel farther, and heavier specimens to land nearer to said launch mechanism.

Some sort of rifling in the catapult mechanism could accomplish this and improve accurracy and range as well (a spin-stabilized mouse having a higher and more consistent ballistic coefficient than a randomly tumbling mouse).

Perhaps the tails should be lopped off just to increase placement accuracy?

Up to the minute design update....There will be no tail lopping or any other physical harm that I will be inflicting on the mouse while being tossed into the air. (except the distict possiblity of being eaten upon landing \:\) )

My device design will have 2 stages. First stage, which I believe complete, consistently capture mice alive and direct him into the "basket" of the launcher. The second stage is the launching mechanism with a resetting trigger.

I need figure out how to display my CADD drawings on the forum.

I find that etch-a-sketch drawings are the most well received, and understood, formats for us here at Pond Boss.

I envision said rodent going thru a device similar to a car wash before he gets to the wheel - he is "misted" with MDew on the front end, and "sandblasted" with Tabasco sauce on his rear. This should give him the proper "action" to attract a predator from 2 counties away.

rmedgar- I like that idea. Flavor misted mouse. For a Cajun catfish a little more spice across the mouse. Or for the midwestern largemouth the hint of corn.

Sunil- What else is there besides etch a sketch for "technical drawings"?

Good point Randy. But if we need to focus on female LMB, we always have the option of using Old Spice or Hai Karate, or both.

"Or for the midwestern largemouth the hint of corn." HaaaHaaa LOL!!!!!
