n8ly, my wife is in a wheelchair and one of her publications she reads promoted having developers spend a day in a wheelchair a while back. Go rent one for a day from a medical supply store and see what it is all about at the facility now. It will open your eyes to their safety.
Norm, got anymore picks of that wheelchair accessible dock? I am going to be building a version of one. I chose my property because of the access. They now make a polyurethane type product that solidifies soil into a solid surface similar to asphalt: http://www.polypavement.com/new/index.php
I eventually plan on opening my property to occasional handicap groups for fishing, a nature trail, and possibly hunting on an individual basis.

Jeffrey,
I wouldn't get too far right now at the moment in a wheel chair, but definitely will give that a try! thanks for the link too!

jefferythree, I agree, going around in a wheel chair is such an eye raising experience.

Our lake is a pit from which clay has been extracted. That means the outside edge was a real mess to drive on. Our lake is only 1/2 mile from I-29. When they reconstructed a section of Interstate, the contractor crushed the concrete and sold it. We got a pretty good deal on it and put over 1,000 yards of crushed concrete around the lake. This made a solid road around the lake.

This crushed concrete ranges from 2X2 inches to 3X4 inches and is hard to walk on and move wheel chairs on. Still, it's much better than clay.

DakotAbilities are one of the primary users of our lake (twice a week). The husband of one of the staff members works for a concrete contractor. They throw away lots of small batches of concrete and we'll see if they can concrete this area. I'm doing this on my own and money is always a concern.

I'll try and post pictures as I get time.
