high pond peeps, bought a new dock for my pond in iowa, gonna swing into nebraksa(grand island) on my way from colorado to my pond on iowa this spring and pick it up It is all aluminum and stainless steel check it out at www. protatch .com. I got the 816 with 2 16 foot walkways, it'll be nice to be 30 feet out over the water right where i put that structure.

has any one heard of protatch and how was their experience?

thanks chris

I always thought it would be fun to try an RC submarine with a waterproof wireless camera mounted on it.

I'll have to give it a try this summer.

Now you're talking!

For RC Submarine info, go over to http://www.subpirates.com and prowl around.

Using the search function to find "video" posts will bring up lots of hits.

Just to get you started, have a look at this underwater video thread started by an internet buddy, Steve Neill.

http://www.subpirates.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3310&hilit=camera

To see my sub under construction, take a look at http://www.subpirates.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=1827&hilit=SubTech+Marlin

I have visions of being able to "swim" with my Rainbows.

Here's poor quality video of what I mean, and hope that you can see the potential in the concept.

Warning, RC subs is not for the faint of heart either in money and in potential heartbreak. I lost one sub at the pond and its still down there in close to 20 ft of water. Lucky for me, it was just a super-cheap modified $20 "pool toy" from Walmart, but it taught me that all my future models will take advantage of every failsafe device possible to make sure it comes up.

Here's a link to an RC site where people have modified these Walmart subs and had a lot of fun for $20 a pop. While they take a little tinkering to get running at their maximum potential, they are a good way to get your feet wet and provide lots of fun for the dollar.

Here's another youtube video featuring the Walmart subs.

Hope this gives you guys a few thoughts for summer fun by the pond.

Lee

STOP the PRESSES!!!!!

This could be a practical stroke of genius! For a couple years I have been wanting to get good enough with my sea kayak to be able to go out through the surf while hauling out a couple of baited lines so the kids in the family can actually fish for salmon in the ocean from right off the beach. One of these little R/C boats could do the job better without risking getting my ass hooked if I rolled the kayak in the surf! Have to check the remote control range out somewhere safe first, for sure.

I used to have a R/C catamaran with twin screws. It was battery powered and clocked at around 30 mph. It was long though, 34", myself and my father built it from a kit which we highly modified. I use to take it out to the pond in front of my parents home and subdivision, only on the windiest days to see what kind of air I could get. I had it shipped to me in Japan when I was stationed there, but it arrived it too many pieces to count. Too bad, I missed that boat and the good times. I might get another, and was looking at a R/C sub as well, I might have to look into that further, especially one with video.

An RC boat would be great for keeping geese (sky carp) off of a pond and shorelines.

Good morning Dave, I've checked the ships systems, and everything appears to be running normally.

That's the exact reason I have one. The dog covers the shoreline and the boat covers the water.

It's the best combination I've come up with.

Dang, I wish I'd have stayed away from this thread.

I have seen where catfishermen or striper fishermen somehow get the boat to drop the bait near the dam on large reservoirs, which is a posted area, and catch monsters.

They do that at Raystown Lake in PA. Used to watch the guys do that when I fished it a lot in college.
