Okay, faithful. We began the process of changing servers last Thursday. Kathy has everything in place, now JP does what he does and we should make the change by mid-week next week, or so I have been told. I ask your indulgence for a few more days. Next, we have to sell some banner ads to cover the costs. More as I know it.

Trying to get on since this morning...6:30 AM. Only just now able to do so.
I may have to go away for a couple more months so see if things are better when I come back. Don't have time to wait...that's why I quit trying from hotel rooms. I can't take the stress, and I've absolutely zero patience, anymore.
On vacation next week, so maybe, afterwards, I'll give it one more shot. Afterwards, though, banner or no...I'm probably gone if it's not up to snuff. Sounds whiney, I know, but I'm just too busy to keep trying only to get smacked with the "error" message.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

I sure hope the change-over happens soon. I posted something several days ago. It froze my browser. In repeated tries, I've attempted to log in unsuccessfully.

Let's see what happens with this post.
Am I the only one who can't log in (most of the time)?
I can usually read the recent posts, although it is sometimes very difficult. Logging in is almost impossible (I finally got logged on this evening after about three hours of intermittent attempts).
I have a reasonably high speed DSL connection (1.5 Mb). Other forums come up quick, and I can post without problems. Sites like CNN, MSNBC, Yahoo, Wunderground, are near instantaneous.
This is the first time I've been able to log into PondBoss for several days.
All I want for Christmas is ...
Happy Holidays, Ken

Ken, the server change is coming. Here's what I do. Go to another website and then click on the forum. That works about 75% of the time. If I try to post, it freezes up but the post does occur.

I wrote a simple macro that with one key stroke submits a new post and then automatically opens a new browser window and goes back the the forum in the new window. About half the time I will still be logged on. If not, I have a seperate little macro that logs me back on with a single key stroke. This will all be useless after the forum is fixed.

Dwight, after reading the above post and viewing your profile I see that you have listed your occupation as "Technology", me thinks that is an understatement.

I haven't had to use my Macros today. It appears to me that the forum has been fixed. I'll keep them around just in case.

I'm still detecting some issues. I don't think it's happened just yet.

I see no change yet. I still have to log on twice and attempted posts lock up my browser. At least I can still read a lot.

Must really be bad - never seen so little activity on the forum. Where is everybody? I see no change yet. I still have to log on twice and attempted posts lock up my browser. At least I can still read a lot. When my Yahoo brouser "locks" up, I bring up Verizon and my post is on site - delete "locked-up" post. Crude process but works for me.

The problems with the Forum are turning off a lot of readers and regular posters. Honked. It is always hard to make a come-back when you make a big flub-up. Ted Lea aeration expert of ForeverGreen hasn't been able to get on for 3-4 weeks. He is about ready to quit trying.

The issue I have still is when I go to make a post it tells me I already did. I have to go off site and come back to see my post. Seems like a software issue in that case.

My problem is exactly the same as Cecil's. I also have difficulty signing on.
I realize that I'm just an ignorant fish guy, but I'm not sure what this has to do with dedicated servers.
...and why did the site work fine for a while at the beginning, and then a couple of weeks ago. I can't imagine it has anything to do with the traffic, but, like I said before, what do I know?

Sorry, I spoke too soon! I had one great day and now am back to using my cheater Macros to log on and post. I fail to understand why it is taking so long to fix the forums issues. Even changing servers should happen in a day or two. My company clientele would never put up with ongoing issues for such a long period of time. Maybe next year!

Everyone is feeling the frustration.
If any of us actually paid for this forum, I think we'd have some rights to complain; because we don't pay anything, I think it reinforces how lucky we all are to even have this site.
But don't anyone take me the wrong way...I wish we would get back to normal.
Some folks can't even get logged on, and we may be losing attendees for the '08 gathering.

Like most folks there are many days that after my third or fourth attempt to log on I quit trying. I am hopeful that this process will be completed soon.
Any updates on where Pond Boss is in the upgrade process?

Ted Lea aeration expert of ForeverGreen hasn't been able to get on for 3-4 weeks. He is about ready to quit trying. I think that after this is all fixed that perhaps Pond Boss (or it's members - I would readily volunteer) could send out emails to formerly active members to let them know that we are up and running again. Would that be OK? I don't like the idea of losing some of our great active members over a temporary glitch like this. And like Sunil I would hate to see a reduction in attendees at the 08 convention. After this is fixed we definitely need to focus on more positive stuff like the 08 convention.

Sunil,
My complaining is directed at the hosting company that hosts the website and the forum.
The company Pond Boss has been far more patient with that hosting organization than any reasonable organization should expect.
My company does hosting and related services for some of our clients. We have a 1 hour service response time. We promise 24 hour resolution and we usually have any hosting related issue fixed in under 4 hours. That kind of service is my frame of reference so maybe I am unreasonable.
Anyway, I can deal with the Forum issues and have been. It is those that can’t or are so frustrated they have given up on the Forum that I am concerned about!

Dwight, I fully understand and basically agree with you. I should have worded my thoughts better; what I was thinking about more was the irony that we are not able to complain. I mean of course we can express our frustrations, but it's not that Lusk himself can correct it; he has to get support.
You know what I mean?
At any rate, my friend, I'm toasting a Corona to you now....now I'm switching over to a nice German beer called Hansa. They come in 17oz. bottles. I call them Space Shuttles.
