I have taken a soil analysis around my pond the results are below SAMPLE IDENTITY
grdnsoil Moisture content % 0.883 P, available mg/Kg 1.2 K, available mg/Kg 27 Mg, available mg/Kg 186.8 Ca, available mg/Kg 2338 Fe, available mg/Kg 26.4 Al, available mg/Kg 39.3 Mn, available mg/Kg 10.5 Zn, available mg/Kg 0.67 pH in water pH 6.82
The pond is still in the process of filling I should estimate that it has about another 4 ft to go. Is there any thing I could be doing to improve conditions at this stage.

It looks to me that Im really low on phosphorus but not too bad on the PH. The PH seems very good given the high FE content( should I keep on digging and go for a iron ore mine?)and therefore should I lime to offset any drop in the PH later on? Also what can I do to raise the phosphorus level as I understand that this is important for the plankton bloom

Does your water look like this in summer (plankton bloom) Triple Super Phosphate 0-46-0 can be purchased at any Co-op or feed store in 50 lb bags. There are other water soluble fertilizers also which are easier to apply. They are the major method of adding P to a pond. NPK fertilizers are sold by numbers with the first being nitrogen (N) the second phosphors (P) and the third potassium (K). Before you decide on the fertilizer course you need to search hear and learn all about the process and be sure it fits your situation. Many ponds don't need fertilizer and you have to know about the process first.

Thats a beautiful stretch of water in that photo.I only hope that my pond will come somewhat close.I think I might as well leave it at the moment. At the current rate Im not going to be full probably until 2008 and I still dont have any idea whether it will stay full or what?
