I had a huge BG actually eat one of these. I sat there in disbelief. But this BG is near 2 lbs. in size now. And I don't think it was a full-sized pellet (I believe part of it broke off).

The HSB certainly would rather wait for the pellet to begin to sink before they eat the LM pellets. I have no idea why, but everytime you see one begin to sink you can count on a HSB being there within seconds.

Cecil these bass are basically staving. I throw in bass from lakes that have stunted population. I did go to KY fro 2 days no one feed them, but MOnday was no diff. Dang Flordia genetic influence in the bass I guess.

Well if they've never been trained to feed on pellets most likely they would rather starve.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

What stinks Cecil is some of them started taking trout chow pellets. I was really surprised and excited that the LMB pellets would be easier to train them guess not.

What is the smallest bass you guys have seen eating the pellets? I have lots of bass 10-12 inches but only a a few dozen over 14 inches, maybe that is one issue.

Smallest I've seen is 2 1/2 pounds taking the pellets the 2 1/2 lb pellet trained smallmouth weren't interested at all.

The LMB taking the pellets were feed trained when I bought them and are between 14" and 16". I haven't seen any smaller taking pellets at all but I think I have only a few of their offspring that are about 6".

BTW Ryan, my LMB self trained. I'm not sure if they learned from the HSB or the SMB though.

If you notice the folks talking about this probably have norhtern bass. This has a major distinction when it comes to "self training". Thanks Cecil I did not realize the pellets were thsi large util I got them and think most of my bass are too small to effectively eat the pellet.

My LMB are self feed trained. I've been feeding the "Game Fish Chow" for several years, which the LMB, BG & CC's devoured.

I bought a couple bags of Aqua Max for Largemouth. At first the fish were hesitant to take it. But after about a week they ALL started chowing down on the Aqua Max.

Now they won't touch the Game Fish chow.

The Aqua Max smells slightly fishy & leaves a slight oil slick on the water surface. The BG's take a chunk underwater and it's BG soccer...game on!!!! LOL.....

I've seen that too Jack. Here's a photo for those wondering how the size compares.

Yes, AM600, AM LM and AM400

BTW, I thought I might be able to get the larger pellets to flow through my Moultry feeder if I mixed them with smaller pellets.

It worked twice then my feeder pretty much self destructed.

What happened to your feeder exactly?

What feeder do you have?

Are you able to fix it?

I have used a mixture of 400,500,600 in mine and it worked ok.

I also used just the 600 and it appeared to work fine as well.

I just like having the smaller pellets for the BG, and other small fish. The CC can eat anything. I would like to get some AM LM to hand feed just to see how the CC take to it.

400, 500, and 600 feeds fine in my Moutrie feedcaster commercial. The AM LM is what caused the self destruct...it says not to use feed that big in the manual but I don't trust manuals (ever heard of the guy trying to use the bathroom in his RV while cruising down the road?)

The slide gate jammed, the metering auger broke the lower unit away from the hopper. Duct tape, super glue and some zip ties fixed it. It's was running fine for a year...until it got blown into the pond a couple of days ago. Waiting for it to dry out and going to see if the battery will charge before trying it out.

That is just crazy. Hope you have luck getting it to work. My father had his fall in shortly after putting it up. I thought he was going to give up after that but went ahead and ordered another kit to use. It has been working fine.

I have had my feeder for going on 3 years now and it still seems to work, still use the same battery as well. I did have a spinner plate wear out (I believe the coons messed it up), but other than that not any problems (besides not able to hold enough food) LOL
