Pond Boss Forums POND CONSTRUCTION Creating habitat sealing a pond with bentonite

I have a small sediment pond - the bottom is about 5' X 40'. The problem is that it is leaking through the bottom to my main pond - the dam has a liner. I am thinking about draining it and sealing the bottom with bentonite. Any advice on rates of application and sources for the bentonite would be appreciated. My email is pohlzaret@aol.com. hi aaron, my suggestion would be to look for a close-by source of native clay soil and compact that in the bottom. bentonite does not occur naturally in NC, and will be expensive whether you find a source through a local drilling supply company or have it trucked in from wherever. alternatively, it is a relatively small area, and perhaps you might consider (cost out) lining the whole sediment basin....native clay would be my first choice though (maybe off of yer own property, or a neighbor, or a local landscape supply Co.?
