I know this is a dumb question but about how many fathead minnows make 1 lb? I'm going to buy a pound from a hatchery this spring to use for bait and save time and money stopping at a bait shop and risk someone coming up short on their count. Also, $10-15 for a pound seems to be cheaper than $5-8 for 6 dozen minnows at a bait shop and end up someone not counting out enough minnows.

Kinda depends on size. For mid size , I usually find about 300 to 400. We get them a little cheaper here.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
