If I don't get any more entries by fall I'm going to shut down this site:

http://www.ligtel.com/~jjbaird/pprf/pprf.htm

I know some of the southern ponds are in serious drought conditons, but I accept entries from across the country. This is ridiculous! I have some record bluegills in my perch pond right now but I don't want to make the site look like they're all my fish.

Come on! :p

Would it help if Bob Lusk agreed to link it to this site and vice versa? If he didn't want to, that would be fine, but I'm wondering if it would get more exposure. Thoughts?

What if I sweeten the pond by offering a free mount for record fish? Good God Miss Molly doesn't look like I'd have to worry about getting swamped with doing free mounts! \:D

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Cecil, if you keep the site open long enough, I will have grown CC to over 10 lbs and will submit as soon as I catch one. I think that will happen before I get a 1.2 lbs BG on line.

P.S. You won't have to mount the Cat for free. I am of the opinion that their mothers may think they are attractive.

I haven't realy taken this seriously yet since I doubt I can compete with those southern ponds with the longer growing seasons. But I'll sure try. It'll take me another year or two to get HBG up to 1.5 pounds. If I'm lucky maybe I'll find one next summer then I'll be sure to enter especially if you offer a free mount \:\)

Cecil,

Please don't take the site down! I fully intend to try for a record, but it takes time. My record-sized fish aren't even born yet. What's a few years among pond bosses? \:\)

If I don't get some serious rain soon, my 7 lb-er LMB is gonna be floating. My 5 acre pond is down to about a half an acre. Good news for the big guy, all the BG are concentrated in a small area. Bad news is a DO crash is likely right around the corner.

Wow, I guess I just gave up too. What a fish. How much does it weigh?
Cecil, is there a way to see the entries that have been posted. Be nice to see what we're up against.

Here, Dave. Is this is better? This perch is actually a state record (If I'm 29 feet tall).

Don Gabelhouse (Nebraska Fisheries Chief) hasn't seen the picture yet, but I already know what his response would be...

bz,

I didn't weigh the fish. I was trying out my new digital camera (as you can probably tell by the poor quality) and was struggling just to get a photo and not kill the fish in the process.

I would estimate the fish at somewhere between 24 to 28 ounces.

CB1 I am still trying - just no big fish yet. I may have to go to the oxbows and catch a buffalo, gar, spoonbill or bowfin to enter. \:o I have some big BG , RES and LMB they are just not cooperating.

Nice hat Bruce - does it come with tortoise shell sunglasses ? :p I like the green , yellow and purple plate better. \:D

Cecil, I looked at that already. Is that pictures from everyone who enters or just the winners? I don't see Bruce's entry. I think it would be nice to see all entries.

Caught this a few weeks ago, but by your standard, it doesn't event qualify!
25 inches length, 20 inch girth, 9#15oz
I'll keep trying ;\)

You're only off one ounce and an inch. Catch her again in a few months or catch one that is larger! I'm mounting a North Carolina bass that size. I was under the impression a Florida bass has to be 10 lbs. to be considered a trophy and a 26 inch bass is not that unusual for a Florida bass. Was I wrong?

Only winners but that happens to be the only entries too! If you don't meet the minimum or someone has caught one bigger then the minimum it doesn't get on the site. I can't justify posting anymore than that as my technician (the wife) has limited time, and I do have a limit on space as the site is free for now.

I'll get Bruce's entry on as soon as I get his entry form and the wife gets the time to put it on.

Ceceil - here is one from a couple of years ago but it is only 22" and does not qualify, it would however qualify as a Ne "Master Angler" with our Game and Parks dept.

Note: the NE state record LMB is only 10 lbs. 12 oz.

A 10# bass is a similar trophy to a 2# bluegill or RES. They are just a little less than 1/2 the world records. A tall order for a private pond.
