I have just stocked my pond with Fathead minnows and was wondering what I could put in the pond for them to reproduce? I know there are tons of different things I could do but I am looking for something easy and simple that I can do. Thanks for any info!

There have been several discussions on spawning fatheads. Here's a link to one thread: http://www.pondboss.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=20;t=000754 You can search to find info on lots of subjects!

I just placed some leftover wooden pallets with a concrete block on them in shallow water. Very easy. I will find out next spring how well they work.

My 1 1/2 year old quarter acre pond has one small semi-submerged brushpile and lots of vegetation and the fathead minnows are plentiful. It seems to me that it does not take a lot of structure for them to reproduce.

True! Fathead minnows effectively use almost any substrate to spawn, in particular the underside of submerged structures. A great way to facilitate spawning is to place wooden pallets on the pond bottom secured by a cinder block or two (Like Coach B). The fatheads will spawn on the underside of the top level of wooden slats. One time I saw half of a white styrofoam cup free floating in my pond and when I lifted it out it had thousands of fathead eggs underneath it and one big male fathead swimming in the little concave space.
Holding a redear sunfish is like running with scissors.

If you swim in your pond I would avoid pallets. They eventually rot and the nails and staples will rust leaving you open to a nail in the foot or worse. Christmas trees or other brush make great cover. Old tires as well that are tied together and have holes punched in them. I agree with the posts about them reproducing. This past summer we went through our first summer after stocking and there were clouds of fathead fry even though we have stocked bluegill and Bass as well. They are prolific little critters.
