Interesting minutae; I was flipping channels and stopped on Animal Planet when I saw a beaver. They said that a pair of beavers can cut down 400 trees per year to build and keep their dam repaired. The longest beaver dam on record was 2,140 ft. Dang, I'm glad I have coyotes.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Boy, if I say "sic em", you'd better look for something to bite. Sam Shelley Rancher and Farmer Muleshoe Texas 1892-1985 RIP

I've reached an agreement with our bucktoothed critters. They knock down the poplar trees, then after they trim the branches I haul the trunks back to the woodshed. Was touch and go for a while though when one of the poplars took down our hydro pole with the transformer on it- 4:30 Friday afternoon of a long week-end. Our insurance company had trouble figuring that claim out but they did come thru. The ball of fire gave a high voltage shot to our A/C and vcr before the primary fuse cleared.Sure was quite a display for a few seconds though.....
