In a single sentence, can you define your ultimate pond goal for this summer?

"I'd like to finish the creation of a small pond that my Dad will be excited to fish".

P.S. I'm really getting antsy for spring. We're forecast for cold and snow for at least another week. \:\(

Two years ago I started building my dream pond which does not yet have water in it due to many reasons but mostly because I haven't closed the drain on it as I still have a few tasks remaining before I'll be satisfied it's mostly the way I want it but I'm desperate to close that drain on this my dream pond & clear the drain on my old pond which is perched 300 yds. upstream which I would have had renovated by now had the drain on it not repeatedly clogged allowing it to fill to the spillway which at one point seemed so stable I was lured into stocking it with 1200 FH minnows but of course it completely drained itself 3 weeks later & immediately filled back up which is where it sits tempting me & has done so since last fall.

Sorry Bruce I was having trouble finding the period & by the way did you know that’s how you can tell if you’re keyboard is pregnant?

RAIN.

That's become a 4 letter word.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Same as last year, but it will come closer to happening:

"I would like to catch enough Bluegill of eating size, 6"-8", to have a fish dinner for four once a week, plus have a few extra of messes of Bluegill to give to my Mom and Dad."

Slow down this year; kick back, smell the roses, and enjoy the pond progress with family and friends!

I'm not worried the house has 3 stories and the boat is close by. If water gets that high then Noah will be close by.

PS... the nrcs has built about a 1 1/2 acre pond at the top of the watershed. It probably catches about the first 50 acres or so. From the water flows I've seen the past 10 years I don't think I'll even notice the effects of this new catch. I hope it slows things down a little anyway.

My goal is to get my new dock built, put an umbrella on it, drink some beer while I contemplate how much money this hole in the earth is gonna cost me.

Ponds don't ever cost you money. They are a complex investment diversification scheme with disproportionate multi-faceted payback options. \:D

If I could have my pond full of water and stock forage by fall, I would be very happy.

I've already got my major project done. We have put crushed concrete as a road completely around the lake. We put over 1,000 tons of crushed concrete around the lake at a cost of about $4,000. This was the finished cost including delivery, moving the concrete where we wanted it and then finally grading everything.

The rest of the year will be devoted to landscaping and bringing even more people in wheel chairs out to fish.

"Rocky-T
(be careful whatcha wish fer, Mr. "300 Ac of drainage")

My wishes came true and then some, 6.3 inches this weekend. Both ponds overflowed, new waterfall spillway worked perfect. I didn't get all the dirt moved in place from my draught diggin but no complaints here. I will send a video & pic's via e-mail of what a 300 acre watershed does to 3 acres of dry ponds in a very short period of time if anyone is interested in seeing it. Hope all you other POnd Bosses got the rain too.

Just some rain please. This rain last weekend totally missed me. My hole is still bone dry. Does it make it easier to place structure, however.
