Thanks to all the posters on the forum, and thanks to PondBoss, et.al. for the books, magazines, etc. Dirt is flying at our new pond, as the dam is under contruction on our 5.2 acre pond (according to NRCS). Everything looks promising so far, as the test holes looked great. I'm keeping a photo journal of our progress (see Redstone Ranch pond photos ). If anyone sees something odd, I'd appreciate the advice. The site's at an old excavated gravel pit, next to a tree-lined wooded area filled with live oaks, pines, and cedars. Deepest water will be about 12 feet, with an average depth of 6 feet. We're probably going to push up an island and shape the peninsulas when the dam is done (about a week from now). Then it's add structure, pray for rain, add forage, pray for rain, and add predators. Same old story.

CC : Welcome to the fourm . You will find lots of info and help here. The more info on your plans you provide the better chance someone can add helpful advice. I looked at your pond photos . It looks like a good site. You have some good ideas , I am sure after much thought and planning. Will some of the trees be able to provide some shade around the banks ? If you are going to have a pier think about what you will see and do from the pier . Sand for swimming , fish beds for watching and fishing , easy access for all , power to the pier for lights and pond fountains. there are many examples if you search the fourm . Look at the photos from the following , they may help : http://www.pondboss.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=20;t=001847 Good luck and post more info and ask for help or ideas. ewest
