If you are going to have a wind mill or already have one perhaps you can learn from my experience. I have a 12 ft. windmill that I anchored with three ft. stakes a each corner that were driven in the ground. Also I screwed a mobile home anchor in the middle and attatched it with three cables. After one full year of standing it was blown over. The weatherman had warned of 90 mph gusts on the night of the mishap. Now my windmill is anchored in lots of concrete. You never no what kind of weather may come your way. wayner

I gather the stakes pulled out, rather than the tower coming loose from them?

Wayner,
Is that a 12 foot blade? That's big. It's no wonder you need lots of anchoring.
Are you pumping water or aerating with it?

Wayner and other ponders- When we install windmills we concrete all 3 ground rods into the ground. We never had any fall over due to high winds. I believe concrete is a MUST.

My tower is 12' tall & the stakes did pull out of the ground. The salesperson said the stakes and the mobile home anchor would be adequate.

the stakes and the mobile home anchor Maybe you should have removed the Tornado Magnets from the anchor.

I have each corner cemented in with 1-1/2 bags of cement. We had some 90+ mph winds a year or two ago (says the neighbor). My 16' tower did just fine.
