A recent post indicated interest in a regional/local get together. Lusk called and said that he would love to attend if he can possibly get away. His best shot is the second weekend in August. He's pretty sure he can get into town for that weekend. That sounds pretty good. By that time of the year, it's so hot that I don't go outside to pee.
Gary Condo (Pond Rookie) and I had lunch and talked it over. He can get cheap meeting rooms and hotel rooms.
Okay. What level of interest is there? What type of agenda? One day or two? I figure it is too late to get pro's other than possibly Lusk. George Glazener thinks a round table discussion, mostly social, while putting names with faces is the best bet. Suits me. I've never met any of you guys and would look forward to it. Anybody want to meet for lunch during the interim? OK.
Post here, E-mail, or call on my cell phone @ 817-832-4724. Give me some help, guys.
BTW, Sunil said he wants to come and play Texas hold-em Poker. I've seen his picture and he looks too young to be much of a threat. As Louis Lamour said, he's too young to have been up the river and over the mountains. Be careful Sunil. These Texas guys may talk slow but they think real fast. They are also treacherous.

I have a few ideas for different options…
1. Have it near Dallas and go for hotel type set up. Rent a room and meeting room combo or meeting room only for locals.
2. If I recall correctly, B. Lusk lives up close to Lake Texoma. We could have same set-up but say, have it at the Tanglewood Resort (hotel, conference center...etc). Would Bob have anything to show at his place? Or we could go Striper fishing? Also, I could juke the wife into the "we are going to the lake for the weekend" trick play.
3. Day meeting at restaurant and loan use of their meeting room to cut expenses.
I am fine in any event and will try to attend.

Dallas area hotel, afternoon long meeting with round-table discussion / meet & greet. 5 minute (maximum time strictly enforced) self intro by all attendees telling their pond mgt experience, goals and history. Keynote speaker to be Lusk.
Count me in.

Well the second weekend in August no good for me due to a previously scheduled vacation with the wife and kid (and dog).
If I didn't have a prior engagement, I would come for sure. I think it will be a lot of fun.
Regarding pictures Dave, I'm not that young! Well I take that back; I know a lot of you are in your golden years. Just kidding, I'm only 35. Suffice it to say though, that I wasn't going to bring any deeds to my property to the poker table.
Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:" "She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

How about the Bass Pro Shops/Lake Grapevine/Grapevine Mills area in DFW - lots of choices out there for lodging, meeting...etc.

Dave, I would be in favor of a meeting in the DFW area. Last week I was at the Embassy Suites which is adjacent to Bass Pro Shops, this might be an excellent facility for a one day meeting. They have several large areas with restaurants, bars, and meeting rooms. This is also very close to DFW airport. The meeting in our area sounds like a great idea.
