Last fall I completed a 1.5 acre pond that was stocked this spring with 50lb fathead, 20lb Golden Shiners and 500 perch.

I have been feeding 2xday with my Stren ADF 75 and have not seen ANY perch since I stocked. Tonight I took my boys (7,5,3) fishing for the first time and we caught 7 good sized perch (6-9") The look on their faces was great. I am looking forward to the rest of the summer.

I can't wait until the SMB are stocked in the fall.

I would like to thank all the great people on the forum who helped me learn a little bit about ponds. And a BIG thank you to Bill Cody for answering all of my questions.

Congratulations on the successful outing! I raised 4 boys & your story brought back memories!

I wonder if the knowledgeable ones on here truly understand the immense value they are adding to our lives when they help us with our ponds.

DR,

If my memory serves me right, didn't you have a bit of trouble with your local town officials about getting a permit for a pond?? Maybe showing a picture, to town officials, of three smiling boys with fish in hand standing next to the pond might be good PR for the next guy that wants to build a pond.

Keep us posted on your progress. Thanks for posting.

Russ

Catching large perch sounds great and there is nothing better to eat. I have three girls and am still trying to get one of them to become a fisherman. Right now the mall is winning out. I recently took my oldest fishing for sand bass. We caught one almost every cast. I asked her if she was having fun and her reply was yes but not as fun as the mall with mom.
