Well I was only able to get 10 ducks off my .62 acre pond which leaves me with 6. And they will not come off the water for anything. I've tried putting a canoe on the pond with my lab swimming after them as well.

Will I be ok to leave 6 on there for the summer? I think in the winter I will loose a couple to predation anyway and get me to the #4 that I want.

My other option is to shoot 2 of them.

What do you all think?

Don't tell Ducks Unlimited! \:D

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

You may be approx. double what is suggested by some. However, if your water is not really used for swimming much and your weed buildup isn't excessive along with fil. algae, then go for it. Just monitor closely.......in the future you may want to gradually reduce your #'s over time...... to be safe? In the mean time enjoy their beauty, character and grace as you enjoy your time on and around the water. Relieving stress is a wonderful thing and if 6 ducks help in that who better to gain from that!!!!!! Best of luck

They certainly can be frustrating to catch once spooked! They are very trainable though and will quickly adapt to feeding. Cracked corn is a favorite and you could probably get 1 or 2 more in a Havaheart trap baited with the corn after they have been trained to expect it. Once the hens are mature, you should begin to see eggs on a regular basis. They can be pretty random but always are laid in the early morning typically by 9AM. Best to collect them to prevent a hen from getting broody and trying to hatch them. They are excellent eggs for baking.
