You're in luck!!! I just had a 1 acre pond built a couple of months ago and can help with the costs. It cost me $1,800 to dig the pond. I have sandy soils which will not hold water so I had a few tons of Sodiun Bentonite brought in and spread around in the pond. This is a clay that expands and seals the soil. That cost me another $1,500 materials and labor. I the put in 200 bluegill, 200 red eared sunfish, 200 catfish, 20 lbs. of shiners and 20 lbs. of minnows. That ran me another $280. You are supposed to let the fish sit for a year and get established. Being the impatient sort, I immediately caught about 15 bass 3 lbs or bigger and threw them in there. Now I'm going to have to keep stocking smaller fish in there to feed my big bass. I don't care-I can afford it. Hopefully, my pond will stay full through the summer. If not, I'll have to have a well drilled and that will be another $4,000 to $6,000. Hope this helps!

P.S. I live in Texas but costs shouldn't vary much.

I live in the foothills of NC and they just finished my 1 acre pond friday. It going to cost around $3500. They estimated it costing around 6 to 10 thousand when they started but everything went smooth. The depth is around 12 feet deep. This is my first pond so i cant really help you with the technical stuff but i have learned a lot from this website. Hope that helps some.
