About 2 weeks ago I put out a bucket of Southern Excellence fertilizer according to the instructions in my new 2 acre pond. I recently stocked it and feed about every other day. I usually take a rig with a barbless hook to catch a few of the bream and bass just to keep an eye on how they are doing. Yesterday, I caught come bream that looked as if they had been sprayed with bleach and layed out in the sun. They had pale splotches in their coloration. They still seemed to be eating and biting fairly well but maybe not quite as quickly as before the fertilizing. My water clarity is about right for having just fertilized but could this be a sign of overfertilization? No fish kill that I could detect.
