I have a 50 yr old plus pond. It has always been coffee color. This past weekend a young man walked in the shaollows and said the silt was about 18 inches deep. The next day the whole pond was green!
Any ideas what could have happened ??
I am in the process of repairing the backhoe and crawler I am going to use to drain/scrap and refill.

Maybe it's the second coming of Jesus? Did he have a white robe and beard? He's the only one I know that could change the color of a pond in an instant. LOL
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

I hope you didn't mind the ribbing. I just couldn't help myself.
On a serious note it could it be the wading stirred up nutrients that caused your algae bloom. But more likely they may have been another factor. Did you get a lot of rain recently that may have washed in nutrients and there was a delayed effect?
