I'm in the process of filling my newly renovated pond. I have created a watercoarse/fall for the water to run thru. I'm looking for a intake/ skimmer device at the water pick-up. I plan to run a 5hp pump the will move about 180 gpm. The pond surface size is just over 10,000sq ft. Can you recomend a mfg and or web site where to purchase?

Kelly,
Aquatic Ecosystems comes straight to mind. Here's a link to their catalog page with pond skimmer information.

There are probably others out there, too, but this will give you a start.

Kelly,

What is the width of the waterfall, how high is it and how big is the pond? All of this will take in effect when sizing the correct pump. 5hp will cost you a lot in electricity.

One of our customers is using a 7500 gph pump (1hp) and his electrical cost is $80/mo.

Rule of thumb is 1500 GPH per foot of width of stream. This will give you a good flow and pleasing display.
