How many did you order, Theos?

Sure does make it easier to see which fish are taking the feed!

That’s neat. Create a vacuum and the water fills it.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Is there an auto feeder option that can be added?

I think a hose through the bottom could work for that.

Just pump in some more water with some floating feed. The water you pump will just displace water from within the cube.

If you don't entrain air with the floating food, then you should be fine.

However, I don't know what kind of flow rate you would need on your pump to carry the floating food down the first leg of your fill tube?

Hello.

I would like to make a floating one if possible.

It will be part of all the crazy things I will do this summer with my fish.

So I'm thinking about this. If floating feeding would be used, it would just float straight to the top plexiglass panel. Would the fish be able to the take the feed well, without getting injured, against the panel? Would this still work if there was a couple inches of air gap between the plexiglass panel and the water level? And if so, would that trapped air cause an eventually problem, ie. would you need to replace that "air bubble" with fresh air periodically? My thought for the feed was a mechanical device (like a grabber of sorts) to hold a handful of feed, extend it under the fish tower, then release to feed to float into the fish tower.

Drew,

IMO it would be much easier for the fish consume floating feed if you did create an air gap at the top.

I do NOT believe the air at the top would cause a problem. However, air in a pressurized water system usually is eventually dissolved back into the water. There is a chance that you would have to periodically pump a little bit of air back into the fish attic.

The water at the top of a 1ft column of water is under 12" of negative pressure (-0.43 psi) and some of the dissolved gasses (O2, CO2, etc.) are likely to be pulled into the space at the top along with evaporating water. The vapor pressure of water at 80F is 0.5psi and evaporation will take place as long as the pressure above the water column is lower than this. So, I believe you would need to "flush" the system or vacuum out the gas periodically to prevent it from developing a large bubble over time.
