Hello Everyone!
New to this community and so thankful for the wealth of knowledge. I recently obtained a 5 acre property in the outskirts of San Diego, CA. The land has a 20 year old man made waterfall and pond with gazebos. The pond liner was almost non existent so I am taking the chance to do a complete overhaul of the pond...but this will be my first time do this type of project (I have a great team of construction guys working with me!). After much research, I have drawn up the plans and would love any input from the community. I am keeping much of the original shape of the old pond but adding in some beach area, intake bog etc as seen in drawing. Here is some of the basic info:

Current Pond size:
65 by 106 by 5 ft
volume in cubic feet: 23,500 - 33,250
175,545 gallons to 230,000 gallons

My main questions are:
1) Opinions on the design? Do you think my placement of the intake bay will work?
2) Recommendations on pumps, what kind, what power level?
3) Liner: RPE or EPDM?

Thank you so much!

Julie

Julie:

Welcome to the forum. Currently the "attach an image" thingie isn't working on the forum, we have contacted UBB about it but they are taking their sweet time fixing it. If you post your picture on an image hosting site like IMGUR, then copy/paste the link here THEN we can see the picture.

I am familiar with the area, I lived on the West side of Oceanside, in the Jeffries Ranch subdivision before they closed Jeffries Ranch Road off to Mission Road. A friend of mine still lives in Fallbrook.

There, I fixed the image for you.

Julie, I would contact the Pond Boss office. One time back when, there was an entire issue of Pond Boss magazine re building, leaks, etc. Some pages were devoted to liners. That’s the only place I’ve ever seen that.

They sell copies of those mags for a very reasonable price.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
