Hello all, I'm new here and have a friend who purchased a place in Carbon, TX with a 12 acre purpose-built bass pond that had been "managed" up until a couple years ago.
The pond has dried up to about 4 acres during the drought and they'd like to rework the shape of it while it's low. It does have three wells to help with water loss but they have not been using them.
It's crawling with over crowded, really hungry bass. I caught a bunch and they looked healthy to my uneducated eye. There are a million perch in there.
They've tried reaching the biologist and guy who built it with no luck. I'm trying to help them figure out how to go about this process of reworking the shape and hopefully not destroying their total bass population.
What's the best type of individual/company for them to reach out to as a first step, and do you know of any specific contacts in that part of TX?
Thank you

Drive around the area and look for ponds. Stop, introduce yourself and mention the pond. Ask who built it and whether they would recommend that dozer guy. Ask why they would use him. Also, ask what they wish they had done differently.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
