Is there much Benefit to having a siphon overflow system (taking water 1/2 down water column)in a 1 acre pond in central Ky with aeration (3 bottom diffuser)?

Normally the 2 main benefits from a bottom draw siphon system is to remove anoxic water below the thermocline and to remove detritus/silt. A siphon will still drain FAR more water (when in siphon mode) than a gravity drain pipe, which allows for using a smaller pipe. With the siphon passing through the dam at full pool level, there is no chance a pipe can cause a leak in the dam. A siphon, when designed properly can be entirely contained inside the dam, in regards to the air break and valve.The system can be made completely freeze and clog proof too as well as haing the ability to easily be manually started if wnted for edge maintenance.
