Hey all --- I need to get the intake for my pond pump off the bottom and was thinking some sort of float would be the thing to use. It's a 2 inch intake hose w/ a brass footvalve on it. Any suggestions? I looked at some buoys but figured this os the place to ask.

BTW --- anyone having blue green algal blooms this year? In the PNW we're seeing pets dying from BG algal poisoning after going into some public bodies of water that have had blooms --- terrible.

Bunchgrass Farm, I'm presently using an empty 1 gallon plastic jug with short rope to suspend my 2" irrigation pump pickup line. I'm expecting to switch said jug out for a Canada goose decoy.

Some folks around here use two mallard decoys tied together side by side to suspend theirs. The two ducks crowding each other look less than natural to me. One duck decoy may not have enough floatation to do the job for you.

We have reports of two reservoirs here in sw Colorado with blue green blooms. Advisories are out for those two BOWs. There have been no reported deaths so far.

I just put the screened intake through the center of a truck inner tube to keep it off the bottom and floating.

Our waterfall pond pump has a 5 pound weight wired to the pump with 2 washed out bleach jugs. The pump is suspended about 3 feet from the bottom and the jugs are about 5 feet from the bottom and can't be seen. 2" hard water line up to the waterfall.

Cheers Don.
