Hey guys after reading several posts and doing math, and now having a major headache I am going to try the gypsum for clearing dads pond. I am still a little confused on how much you should use. Dads pond is just over 2 acers in size and 16ft deep. Shallow to the north end and is tear drop shape. I feel like this would be a better thing to use over alum. For the simple fact that Gypsum is PH netural and that I dont wanna kill the fish while using Alum for the first time since you can have a huge Ph level swing in it. Now I have read in a post that some guy called there local coop ordered 5 tons of it and have the local fertilizer spreader come in and spread it onto his pond. Would that be the best method to do that with or is there a better way to make sure you have a good mix?

I’ve Ever done it but have mostly heard of dumping it on the bank. Then using a high pressure hose to wash it in. But, I really like the idea of the truck slinging it.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

huskerman99,
The coop trucks with the spinners can really throw lime as I’ve had that done multiple times to the fields and around pond. I had 10 tons and it took less than 30 minutes. I would estimate that it throws a minimum of 30 yards behind the truck and slings it at least 15-20 yards to each side. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Hey guys thanks for the reply. I went to the pond on friday and it was really starting to clear up. Then yesterday mom and dad went and said that it was really starting to clear so I am not going to spread the gympsum.
