Does anybody have a lead for a good thermometer for getting my water temps? Amazon offers some basic $8 ones (aquascape) but would be willing to invest more if my Forum brethern had a recommendation. The $8 one goes from 0 degrees to 120 degrees..therefore is not very accurate/specific in the 50-85 degree range. If the answer is just buy a cheap one, no problem. Just thought I would see if there was agreed upon good one. Thanks!
Thanks!

John,
Can I add some other questions to your thermometer thread?
If so, does anyone have suggestions for a recording water temp thermometer for those of us that don't live at our body of water?
I would appreciate recommendations regarding any models that could record temperature-date-time and then you could download the data to a computer (or any other type of data reader).
If there are no good versions of that type of thermometer, are there any good max/min thermometers that would hold the extremes between viewings?
Thanks, Rod

Rod, I had saw where some guys like YSI for DO testing. I googled YSI water testing and they have some pretty fancy stuff (used institutionally). They have some Bluetooth enabled equipment. Not sure about the ability to record results for future download. The basic testing for Ph and Temp looks to be $400, and then you need the probe. So now I am between $8 and $500. Lol.
Thanks!

$8 or $500 - that's is what I had been seeing also!
If I end up having to buy something at the upper price range, then I sure want a product that some of our experts have used successfully for years.
I sometimes buy $8 crap, that is good enough for its purpose. However, it is painful when I buy a $500 product that still turns out to be crap!
Good luck, Rod

Just water temp, a cheap swimming pool thermometer will work, might not even cost $8 at your local cheep store.
Also those corded indoor/outdoor thermometers will work, you have to get the water temp in the outdoor side of things.
I have a YSI ODO Pro, that gives me both temp and O2, but it's still a handheld unit.

Floating pool thermometers via Amazon - they run around $6-$8 per above posts. They last several seasons and work for my general purposes.

I use the HYDROTOOL brand floating swimming pool unit. It is SOLAR powered and e-bay sells them for about $12-15. I am using only my second one in 7 years! Large digital readout also.

Thank you! I just ordered the Hydrotools solar powered. Looks like it will be perfect to just keep in my pond off my dock. I need the easy to read display! Thanks!
Thanks!
