Mongo's New Pond
Hello from a cold Oklahoma. New pond owner here.
We dug our pond last summer and waiting for the rains to fill it.
About 40% full right now.
Approx. .5-.75 acres, right now 8-10 feet deep. Full will be approx. 20-22 feet.
Airmax PS10 aeration
RapidFlo 5000 pump for waterfall
Hoping to put feeder minnows in next week.

That's a deep pond. Take your time and enjoy getting the aquatic ecosystem up and running. Not overstocking or stocking in the wrong order of species is a common beginner issue. What fish species are you planning to stock?

Good morning and thanks for the comment.
I hoping to get the fathead minnows this week. Then depending on what the fishery tells me, (time of year), I am looking at:
Red Ear: 100
Coppernose: 100
Native: 100
Crappie: 50
Bass: 25-30
Catfish: ?
My neighbor has a pond that is needing to thin out his Hybrid bluegills, so will be catch and release into my pond.
I'm just enjoying tinkering with the prepping the pond for full pool. Hopefully we'll be getting our normal spring rains anytime now.

Native ? Do you mean regular BG ?
I would not put HBG in with BG, CNBG and RES. If you want them then wait until the initial stockers are 2 years old , if at all. It has the potential to cause a genetic trap. Be sure you understand Crappie well before you add them - lots here on the Forum about the potential to cause problems in small waters (under 40 acres). With those numbers of BG be sure to wait for them to spawn before you add LMB.
