Well I been hard at taking out my smaller bass so far I have taken 17 more out this year. And it's starting to pay off. This bass looks much better as far as big head small body. I believe I am finally starting to get back on track. This girl was almost 5 pounds.

Was this recent? This time of year (fall) LMB should be in their best condition of the year. She would have liked those small cull LMB to eat. No easy answer to which ones to cull and when and how many. Just have to watch the overall condition and try to cull to match.

Hey Eric yeah that was last weekend. I'm not taking the small, small bass out just ones around the 12 inch size anything 9 to 10 inch or so I throw back in for that reason as I know she will eat them if she can. Heck she may even try to eat a 12 inch but they are eating my Bluegill as fast as they spawn. lol. I could use about a 1000 TFS just cant seem to find them down here.

She's looking pretty darn good RC! Did you get relative weight %? How long was she?

Hey Flame she was 21.5 inches and right at 5 pounds so a little light still about 95 percent weight, but much better then I been getting. Any of my bass 18 inches and under look great it's just when I start to get to the 19 and up I been having an issue. It's hard to keep these big girls fed. lol. Not to mention I have some rather large HSB at this point like 6 to 8 pounds large. So I am sure that is not helping any either. Any HSB I catch I keep and clean them for the table. I think I could use another 300 BG or so in the 4 to 6 inch range. Even if some of them got ate I think it would still help. One thing I have figured out is taking about 20, 11 to 12 inch bass or so a year is working for me at this point.

My WAG is that without pushing pellet feed to the BG at our place we're limited on appropriately-sized forage. Our rule of thumb is every LMB under 14 in. caught from our 2.2 ac pond doesn't go back. Exceptions made for extraordinary RW. condition.

RC, I'm loving this. I seem to recall that about a year or so ago you were ready to drag your pond out in the road and chunk rocks at it due to predation and expense.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Heck she may even try to eat a 12 inch Cut 2" off the tail and toss em back in. That big girl will be all over em and won't have to work hard to catch em when they're gimped up.

That might work ! She needs more food in the right size. TFS are best for med sized LMB 2-4 lbs and not as good for large LMB.
