Central Alabama lake / 80 acres / some depths of 40 feet.

Having a problem with what I think are some type of Midge. These insects look like mosquitos and swarm inside my boathouse. What seems like thousands, they are very annoying getting on clothing, in hair and covering our spotlights at night. They do not bite and disappear during the winter months.

I would like to control these bugs using some type of safe means because we don't want to harm our fish population. How about a bug zapper hanging over the water? Kills the bugs and feeds the bream.

Are you good with that?

Many Thanks

Bug zappers, hanging glue strips work but infestations? Good luck

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Thanks Dave, I'm loading up to blast these critters with some environmentally safe spray and taking a zapper with me to hopefully nip this in the bud for now.

I did read that the banks of the lake close to the boathouse need to be treated in the early spring to keep the midges' from emerging.

My biggest fear is dying and my wife selling all of my fishing tackle for what I told her I paid for it,,,,,,,,,
