Hey all - my wife and I have been trying to figure out what this thing is in a local lake:

It appears to be a dam of some sort, but I'm looking for a specific name if there is one. Some Googling around led me to these forums and it seems like a good bet that someone here can tell me what it is.
Although it would be more fun to consider it some kind of sinister device......

Could also have a nice keg party on it.....which wouldn't be so sinister....

Does look like it has bumpers on the side. It could double as a boat dock also. Triple I guess with the keg party. Looks like a good place for wet t-shirt contest. SKIN TO WIN !!!
Looks like the intake of the lake's spillway. They have it fenced off from land to keep people off it, and appears to have added boards to keep a boat from going inside. Would be very hazardous to be sucked into during a high flow event.
