Dski and I have elected to sell our Liberty Nature Preserve project. It is now someone else's dream. We are moving along to a new project, but the only body of water involved will be something measured in many miles of shoreline and not owned by me. There are a host of players within this forum that were vital to helping us make LNP the success that it is today. Names like Bob Lusk, Mike Otto, Bill Cody, Bruce Condello, Theo Gallus. Ewest. Then there is the list of comic support that yielded mostly positive developmental results (some repeaters from the serious list). Names like Theo Gallus, Sunil, JHAP, Bruce Condello, Ewest, and I hate that I cannot remember everybody. - One more shout out, again, to Bill Cody. Your guidance was the difference to make-or-break. We made! I will be forever grateful.
Bski and Dski

Tell us about the new project. Tell the buyers about PB and your story.

Brettski....can you elaborate what went into your decision?
The reason I ask is I predict I will do the same in 2-5 years.
My place is an enormous amount of work and/or money.
Sometimes I think I might just prefer to have a "lake house" and let someone else handle all the fish stockings, birds/otters eating all the fish, algae/aquatic vegetation, pasture mowing, road repairs, fence repairs, some of my best hands are getting up in years and I don't know what I'd do without them.....it (money and work) really never ends.
I still love my place....but now see it as an investment to sell as I get older and get a smaller footprint.
Fishing has never been about the fish....

This is a great opportunity for someone to buy a terrific property.

I believe it is already off the market, otherwise, you would be absolutely correct. Mr. & Mrs. Brettski took a raw piece of land and turned it into something special.

I ran across this thread tonight, and despite my initial hesitation I just felt compelled to comment. Brettski, I have thoroughly enjoyed following your progress over these years. I have great admiration for your diligence, attention to detail, and perseverance. Thank you for taking the time to document and share your efforts.
Zep, I hear you also. A lot of water has flowed out the spillpipe during the course of the last decade, and much has changed during that time. It truly never ends.
Peace.

Ya know, you told me quite a few years ago that you would probably sell the place when it was finished. Took a long time.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Thanks for the wishes, y'all. We will do a 180 and get a piece of subdivision tiny acreage property with a great view and either an existing home or build a home. If it's a build, I will now relent to wisdom and let someone else do most of the heavy lifting.
Why are we cutting the pond project loose? We're burned out. It's not any one specific thing. It's just everything that, when added up, tips the scale to the "cash out and move on" side. We are now early 60-somethings and sizing up the old adage time to downsize. When it comes to 46 acres of timber with a 5ac pond, downsizing quickly moves from being "sized up" to the "mandatory for low commitment" column. I can see me enjoying a life of low commitment.

Brettski, 8/23/15:
"I feared I would never be able to say this, but I am pretty much done with the living space. All the windows, doors, trim and custom woodwork details are in. I gotta say that it has turned out to be a pretty cool little fort. Time to sell!! OK, just kidding (at least for now)."
Best of luck on your new venture.

Totally hear ya. I will be 61 this year...I know the day is coming down the road. I love my place and it has huge sentimental value...but when the time comes I will look forward to a smaller footprint and less headaches. Thanks for sharing your journey.

It seems when one makes a project “too nice”, then it becomes a chore instead of a pleasure. Then, at some point, one tires of it. Just sayin.....
