I am "managing" a 1-2 acre pond in south Alabama. This pond is quite literally the clearest water I have ever seen. At its deepest the pond is maybe 10 feet deep, and at that point the bottom can be seen clearly. You can see pebbles, turtle tracks, anything on the bottom. It has a healthy fish population (although I would like more) and they are growing. What I would like to do is create some more habitat for them. There is nothing but dirt on the bottom of the pond except around the banks. What type of vegetation can I get for the middle of my pond? The pond is spring fed. There are bass and brim in the pond, that's it.

With water that clear, I suppose you may have to fertilize to get much in the way of rooted plants to grow.

Why not just add some brush piles rather than try to get deep water rooted plants to grow and fill up the pond.

That's a good idea. I'll work on brush piles for now.

Do you want clear water? That doesn't contribute anything for fry to eat.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

10 foot of clear water sounds more like a swimming pool than a fish pond. Strange that you don't have an aquatic weed problem, and even stranger that you have a good fish population. If your water is not acidic, you can add a high phosphate fertilizer and establish some planktonic algae. I have a small pond with an extreme clarity problem, but I'm trying to control the weed growth before adding fertilizer.
