So has anyone had any experience with this plant? It's supposed to be easy to get going and doesn't grow past about 10 inches in the water. Any pros or con's anyone can tell me?

Thanks,
RC

Very good marginal pond plant. Numerous benefits - main con IMO is it does not typically grow densely to crowd out other plans such as cattails

What plant is it? One site says:

Alisma subcordatum (Mud Plantain)

Mud plantain?

Another says:
Heteranthera limosa

Florida version?

Sorry there are lots of this type of weed I guess. This is the one I was looking at.

Kidney-leaf mud plantain (Heteranthera reniformis) -

Thanks Bill for your input!! This particular one was in the Missouri handbook.

RC, do you have a supplier for this plant (if so, please share) or merely a nearby pond to source it?

Hey QA no I don't sorry.. I am very cautious when it comes to putting plants in my pond. I do NOT want anything taking over as my pond is fairly shallow so I was just asking about this one as it looks like something I could actually use and where my pond is versus Missouri is only about an hour south or so. So I figured they would do well where I am at.

My grass crap are all over 7 years old now and if I get rid of them I may try to establish something like this kind of plant. Thinking it would do well in spots specially for any GSH's I put in my pond to help get them established.

I here ya regarding the fear of a take over. I cannot get myself to even consider anything other than emergent and bank plants at this point. My pond is too small to loose 10 foot of bank waters around the perimeter.

If you decide to go with the mud plantain and find a source, keep me in mind. Thanks
