So my wife and I were discussing ways to make our area to mow less. We discussed cows, goats and I said why don't we make the pond larger? Much to my surprise she said yeah! So here's what I have in my head. Any thoughts or better suggestions let me know. Also an estimate of cost for the reno.... I have no idea how much something like this would cost.. Making the pond larger will involve more time, effort and money to manage the extra space especially if there is significantly more shallow water. Shallow water requires more management. Grass is easier and quicker to mow than raking - mixing sediments or removing weeds.

Bill does have a point! But you got all that nice open space to add on!! Easy to get to and everything!! So you don't have to many weed issues I would try to go 8 9 feet deep if you can and 3 foot at the shore line.... How much you ask??? I have no idea...

I wanna say around here EQ guys get about 140 or so bucks an hour... but not exactly sure...I would get some estimates and like the guys say out here make sure he is a pond builder not a dirt mover... There is a big difference.....

I have seen others suggest digging out a second pond right next to the first, and when done, breach between the two and then knock down the ridge to use as some great structure.
Or just leave them separate and do something different with pond #2. It is probably more expensive to try to enlarge the existing pond with water in it, then to dig a new hole in dry ground.
