Hey everyone,

I have a very stagnate swamp I need to aerate. I have been looking to maybe save some $ and get a bang for my buck by purchasing this septic aerator http://daytona.craigslist.org/for/5628581985.html. It's a nayidic septic aerator if link doesn't work. Not to handy so I'm not sure about specs or what specs to look for. I want to maybe use this aerator or another, plug into my garage and run sinking tubing into my 1/4 acre pond. Any guidance for this project would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark

Define swamp, are you referring to an extremely shallow personal pond or in fact designated swamp/marsh land. If it is the later and aeration causes damage to the swamp and you get caught the local department of natural resources will no doubt have a laundry list of fines and penalties regrettably.

The pump you linked from what I can tell looks like a rotary vane type compressor with what was a 1/4 NPT discharge off the unit and has been made larger through the 90 degree elbow to 1/2 NPT this will not increase flow.

As many on here will agree. Will the compressor work...it depends. Water depth, tubing run to the pond, number of diffusers planned, etc...

I would recommend shopping around more and reading up on some of the information contained on this forum.

This is a great thread to get you started it will answer many questions:

I am sorry if this response is not the one you were seeking but it is a loaded question.

Thank you for response. No it is a farm pond not protected swamp. It is around 8ft deep in some areas. I thought I may be able to get a good deal on pump listed because Craigslist and it may be durable since it was for septic. I am open to any suggestions for the most possible aeration.
