Hi All, Not sure if this is the right section for this question, please correct me if I'm wrong.
Anyway, I live on a 2 acre, spring fed retention pond that is owned by the HOA.
There are two concrete inlets and one large concrete outlet (shown in the attached pictures). Obviously, the outlet has been clogged with sticks, debris and trash for a number of years.
I have taken it upon myself to help manage the pond. Does this outlet need to be cleaned? Any suggestions on how to do so? It is pretty far back on the pond, so not accessible for any sort of heavy equipment.
In that design, the outlet pipes aren't what set the water level. If you were to get a 100-yr rain event, the pipe blockage could become a crisis. It has obviously managed ok with the metered flow over your weir not significantly exceeding the reduced flow capacity of the pipes. Why risk it further? Clean it up and rest easy when it rains.
